Laryngeal Cancer

As cigarette smoke is breathed in, it passes down the throat, through the larynx (voice box) into the lungs. This exposes the voice box to poisons in the smoke, poisons that can cause cancer. If cancer develops, the voice box must be removed.


SPECIMEN 1: Cancer of the Voice Box - This is the larynx, or voice box. Cancer is the bumpy area in the middle. Smoking cigarettes causes this kind of cancer.
