Radioactivity

When a tobacco plant grows, it takes in radioactive substances from the ground and air. This radioactivity is collected in tobacco leaves that end up in cigarettes. When you smoke, the radioactivity goes deep into your lungs, where it can cause lung cancer. Some doctors believe many lung cancers result from radioactivity in smoke.
