Ways to Give

Friends of the Campaign

There's an easy way to make a big difference on the health of our children and the fight against Big Tobacco. Become a Friends of the Campaign and you'll help the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids each month and be a key partner in our most important work.

Your gift of just $5 or more each month will provide us with a vital source of funds to help us protect children and react immediately to Big Tobacco's newest and most insidious marketing tactics.

In addition to aiding our programs, Friends are acknowledged for their extra commitment with special benefits.

Become a Friend of the Campaign and you'll receive:

  • Special reports and inside information on TFK initiatives;
  • Recognition in our annual report, as well as a copy of it;
  • Invitations to TFK events;
  • A Friend of the Campaign certificate;
  • Convenient yearly tax statements summarizing your annual giving; and,
  • The satisfaction that you're fighting Big Tobacco and saving lives.

As a Friend of the Campaign , your monthly gift will be charged automatically to your credit card. You'll also be able to change or cancel your monthly contribution at any time by contacting us. Gifts are tax-deductible.

Memorial & Tribute Gifts

Memorial Gifts – Sadly, too many of us still lose loved ones to tobacco use. Honoring their memory is a wonderful way to celebrate their life…and take a positive step toward reducing tobacco's terrible toll. Upon making a memorial donation, a family representative will be notified of the contribution you made in their loved one's name. Make your gift now .

Tribute Gifts – Honor your loved ones' special occasions and accomplishments – success in quitting smoking, an anniversary, or birthday – with a gift to the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids in their honor. We'll notify that special someone that you made a contribution in tribute to them and even give you the chance to enclose a personalized note. Make your gift now .

Planned Gifts

What if you could make a permanent difference in strengthening the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids? There are more ways to do it than you may think. We encourage you to talk with your professional advisor about which type of assets and gift method are the best way for you to make a lasting impact and help make the future truly tobacco-free.

Bequests

When you create or revise your will or trust, you can include the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids as a beneficiary.

The gift can be general – a bequest of property, usually cash; residual – for all or a portion of the estate after specific and general bequests have been distributed; percentage – a percentage of the residue or of another asset; or contingent – which takes effect only in specific circumstances that you determine.

Here is sample bequest language you can use in your will or trust.

"I give [the residue of my estate] or [___% of my estate] or [the sum of ___ dollars] to the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids."*

Insurance Policies

If you have paid-up life insurance policy you no longer need, consider contributing it to the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids. It's as easy as requesting and completing a change of beneficiary form from your life insurance company. Talk to you accountant or financial planner about the considerable tax saving you could earn.

Purchasing a new policy and naming the Campaign as beneficiary is another possibility. This often makes a significant future gift feasible and affordable, especially for younger donors.

Retirement Plans

If you are considering a gift from your estate to the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids, think about using your IRA or qualified retirement plan instead of a securities or cash.

The effective tax rate on inherited retirement assets can approach 80%. That means your heirs may only end up with 20% of the total value of these assets. By using your retirement account to make an estate gift to a charity like the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids, your gift retains 100% of its value instead of the 20% that would go to your heirs.
