Celebrating Victories: Youth Voices In Tobacco Control May 20, 2008

Doreen Gentzler, Master of Ceremonies

Doreen GentzlerDoreen Gentzler anchors News4 at 6 and News4 at 11 with Jim Vance. She also serves as the station’s medical and health reporter. Born in Washington, DC, and educated in Arlington, VA, Gentzler is proud of her Washington area roots. She spent several years reporting and anchoring in Chattanooga, Charlotte, Cleveland, and finally Philadelphia at WCAU before joining News4 in 1989. 

In her award-winning News 4 Your Health segments, Gentzler has brought viewers into hospital operating rooms, profiled medical breakthroughs, and has shown the latest technology helping to save lives. Her reporting has taken her to Bosnia, Ecuador and the Persian Gulf, where she reported live from the USNS Comfort, a navy hospital ship tending to U.S. troops.  Gentzler is also the spokesperson for the station’s health-related community outreach activities such as the annual NBC4 Health and Fitness Expo. 

Gentzler has won three local Emmy awards for reporting and anchoring, as well as three other Emmy awards for news writing and reporting while in Cleveland. She holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Georgia.
