In Japan, the largest market for HTPs globally, a national longitudinal study of more than 7,000 adults concluded that HTP use did not assist current conventional cigarette smokers in quitting. The study followed cigarette smokers over the course of three years and found that long-term HTP use did not prevent former smokers from relapsing.
