Our objectives are to:
- Share best practices on strategies and policies to reduce the affordability of tobacco products, as well as increasing tobacco taxes.
- Support the coordination of research activities throughout the region and call the participants of the Network as an advisory body to discuss emerging issues.
- Involve and expand the number of economists involved in tobacco tax reform throughout the region (ie health and fiscal policy economists).
- Serve as a reference center to answer technical questions from government, academic and civil society organizations that work on legislative and administrative initiatives to increase tobacco taxes.
- Facilitate discussion, dissemination of research and develop new documents to counter the arguments used by the tobacco industry to oppose tax increases and other fiscal policies that seek to reduce the affordability of tobacco products.
